Retro Tower Defense FAQ
All Questions
Are there codes in Retro Tower Defense?
Yes. Ten codes redeem right now: NEW, FREETIX, RETRO, V3RT, GULLIBLE, TELAMON, DUSEKKAR, BLOXXER, 1X1X1X1 and JOHNDOE. Three of them (NEW, FREETIX, RETRO) are printed in the game's own Roblox description, which is why they have outlived every event code. The full list with rewards and the 35 dead codes is on the codes page.
How do you redeem codes in Retro Tower Defense?
Open the game, click the Inventory button on the left of the screen, then the gift-box icon in the top right of that window, paste the code and press Redeem. Codes are case-sensitive, so copy them rather than retyping — 1X1X1X1 and c00l both trip people up.
Is this the same game as Retro Tower Defense Simulator?
No, and the two get mixed up constantly. Retro Tower Defense is the 2025 Plaything Games experience covered on this site. Retro Tower Defense Simulator (RTDS) is a separate, older Roblox game with its own towers, its own codes and its own wiki. Codes from one will not work in the other. If you searched for 'retro tds codes' and landed here, you probably want the other game.
What is the best unit in Retro Tower Defense?
By published damage numbers, Gauntlet tops the list at 266.67 DPS at level 5, followed by the Forsaken-collab Void tower Chance at 200 and the pair of c00lkidd and Ellernate at 188.89. Cost changes the picture: Jolly Elf reaches 100 DPS for 11,700 Tix, which is the cheapest damage per Tix in the game. The tier list bands all 41 damage towers, and the Tix-per-DPS table ranks them by what they cost to max.
How do you get 1x1x1x1 in Retro Tower Defense?
1x1x1x1 is a Gacha Hero, so the only route is summoning him from the Standard Banner or a Limited Banner — there is no XP path and no mission path for him. Luck boosts (39 Robux for x2 over 10 summons, 79 for x3) improve the roll but nothing guarantees it. He is worth chasing: 167.5 DPS at level 5, and the community wiki grades him S.
What does c00lkidd do in Retro Tower Defense?
c00lkidd is a Heroic sold as a bundle for 999 Robux, which unlocks him at once along with his 'Retro' skin and the 'c00l' title. He hits 188.89 DPS at level 5 and costs 34,400 Tix to fully upgrade. He is the only heroic in the game locked entirely behind a purchase rather than summons or XP.
Can you trade towers in Retro Tower Defense?
Yes — trading was added in 2026 and the game's own description leads with it. What a tower is worth is set by how hard it is to obtain, not by a published price: gamepass-only and event-only towers cannot be re-earned once the window closes, while gacha heroes stay rollable forever. The value and rarity index lays out every tower's obtain route so you can judge an offer yourself.
Is there a Retro Tower Defense Discord?
Yes. The Retro TD Community server at discord.gg/rtd has just over 50,000 members and around 7,600 online at any time. It matters for more than chat: the community wiki credits that server as the source of nearly every code the game has ever released, alongside the Roblox game description and the game's X account.
What devices can you play Retro Tower Defense on?
PC, Mac, iOS, Android, PlayStation and Xbox — the game runs anywhere Roblox does, and servers hold up to 30 players. It is free to play; the only spending is Robux for gamepasses, luck boosts and Tix boosts.
How many maps does Retro Tower Defense have, and what are the secret ones?
26 maps, rated one to five stars. Two of them are secret and have to be unlocked by exploring the lobby rather than selected from the menu: Baseplate, the game's first five-star map, is reached through a puddle beside the skins shop and an obby in the sewer below; Dark Park is a broken, night-time version of Arch Park reached by a statue on a rooftop. Each map page has the full route.
How do you get Tix fast in Retro Tower Defense?
Modifiers are the honest answer — they are the only Tix multiplier that costs nothing. Triple Trouble alone pays +30% Tix and XP, No Heroes pays +25%, and Unsupportive pays +20%; they stack, and the only modifiers that cut your payout are the three that make the run easier. The modifier page lists every one with its exact payout so you can build the highest-paying loadout you can still clear.
Where do the numbers on this site come from?
Tower stats, map data, trait odds and modifier payouts are rebuilt from the Retro Tower Defense community wiki's page revisions, pulled on 28 August 2026. Badge clear counts come straight from the live Roblox badge API, so they are the game's own numbers rather than an estimate. Codes are checked against six lists. Where two sources disagree — and on eleven towers the wiki disagrees with itself about upgrade costs — both figures are shown rather than one being quietly picked.
