How to Get Heroics in Retro Tower Defense: Summon Rates
The three routes, and which one you should use
Heroic is the top rarity in Retro Tower Defense, and there are exactly three ways in.
Summoning. The published rate is 0.3%. A x2 luck boost takes it to 0.6%, a x3 big luck boost to 0.9%. There is a pity system on top: you are guaranteed Tier 1 at 100 total spins, Tier 2 at 200, Tier 3 at 300 and Tier 4 at 400. That pity counter is the number that matters — at 0.3%, the expected number of spins to hit one Heroic is over 300, so for most players the guarantee arrives before luck does.
Gamepasses. A Robux purchase that hands you the tower at Tier 3 immediately, usually with a skin. Every gamepass and its price is listed separately.
Tower paths. The free route. You pick one tower, and it fills as you earn XP with that pack active or complete daily quests. Six Heroics are available this way.
Which Heroics are on which route
Nine Heroics are summon-only — no path, no gamepass, so luck boosts are your only lever: 1x1x1x1, Chicken, Crazy Robloxian, Dusekkar, Ellernate, Guest666, Jane Doe, Noli and Yorick.
Six are on XP paths, and this is where the value is:
| Heroic | Variant 1 | Variant 2 | Variant 3 | Peak DPS |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Disaster Dude | 750 XP | 4,250 | 17,500 | 150 |
| Snowman | 1,000 XP | 6,000 | 23,000 | 106.67 |
| Headless Horseman | 1,000 XP | 6,500 | 27,500 | 24 (infinite range) |
| Mech | 1,000 XP | 7,500 | 29,000 | 96.67 |
| iTrapped | 1,500 XP | 13,500 | 50,000 | 147.5 |
| Gauntlet | 3,000 XP | 22,000 | 45,000 | 266.67 |
Disaster Dude is the best first path — cheapest entry in the game and a 150-DPS heroic at the end of it. Gauntlet is the best last path: it costs the most, and it tops the entire damage table.
c00lkidd is in a category of one: a 999 Robux bundle, with no summon route and no path. It is the only Heroic in the game that cannot be earned by playing, which is exactly why it behaves the way it does in trades.
Ranking up a Heroic you already own
Heroics go up to four tiers, and rolling the same one again is what raises the tier — which is why the pity counter is expressed in tiers rather than copies. If a Heroic was locked behind a gamepass you missed, the XP path in the Tower Paths menu is the catch-up route: spend the XP and you get the tier without the purchase.
Is chasing a specific Heroic worth it?
Sometimes not, and the numbers say so plainly. Doombringer is free and finishes last among heroics at 45 DPS. Headless Horseman costs a 27,500 XP path and shows only 24 DPS — though that number understates it badly, because Headless is the only tower in the game with infinite attack range, and a DPS figure does not price in never missing a leak.
Before committing 50,000 XP to iTrapped, check where it actually lands on the tier list, and check what the same damage would cost you from a cheaper tower on the Tix-per-DPS table. Several Epic and Legendary towers deliver more damage per Tix than the Heroics do.
Getting the spins
Luck boosts are Robux: 39 for x2 over 10 summons, 79 for x3 over 10. Codes hand out luck spins for free when they drop — several expired codes were worth 10 to 25 x3 luck spins each, so checking the codes page when an update lands is worth more than it looks. Beyond that, Tix come from clearing runs, and stacked modifiers are the only free multiplier on that.
